Do something nice.
Just like self-care, caring for others can be an act of resistance in 45’s America. The basic foundation of so many of 45’s confounding actions and ideas is that they feed off people’s hatred, fear, and paranoia. When we are kind to one another we elevate ourselves and one other from that madness. Today, for National Do Something Nice Day, our #DailyRevolution is to commit a random act of kindness.
You probably do nice things for people everyday without even realizing it (because you’re wonderful!). Anything from holding a door open to smiling at a stranger can be an act of kindness. Today, try to go beyond your normal niceness routine and pick an act of kindness to #resist with. There are an endless number of ways to do something nice for someone, but here’s a few ideas to get your gears turning:
Bake cookies for a neighbor
Buy flowers to hand out in the street
Leave letters of encouragement on people’s cars
If you find yourself at a toll or ticket booth, pay for the person behind you
Mail a letter to a friend telling them how much you appreciate them
Bring in donuts for your co-workers
Leave an extra generous tip
Write positive messages on sticky notes and stick them up in public spaces
Cook a meal for a friend
