Help your community #GetCovered.

45 and his cronies have done everything in their power to make it difficult for people without employer-provided insurance to reap the benefits of Obamacare, including moving up the deadline for open enrollment by a month and a half. At the same time, there are a number of states with their own exchanges that have extended their deadline. Today’s #DailyRevolution is to learn about the deadline for open enrollment in your state, and encourage your community to #GetCovered by using this toolkit from Get America Covered.

While the early headlines about record-breaking enrollment rates were encouraging, this past week saw a slow-down in enrollment. Due to the shortened open enrollment period and decreased advertising and outreach funding from the current administration, enrollment for health insurance in 2018 could fall millions short of last year’s count.

While not all of us are able to pull a Jimmy Kimmel to convince tons of 45’s supporters to sign up for Obamacare, we can all still do our part to promote the sign-up deadline and benefits of the program to our friends, family, and communities.

Step 1: Find your state’s deadline for open enrollment. There are 39 states that use the exchange, and for most of those, the deadline for open enrollment is 12/15/17. However, for states that have their own exchange, the deadline may be different. We’ve noted the exceptions to this deadline below:

Step 2: Sharing is caring: Blast out your state’s open enrollment deadline to your social network, along with facts about Obamacare. For example, did you know that 8 in 10 people qualified for financial assistance last year, and that 80% of people can find plans for under $75 a month? Step 3: Help your community figure out how to enroll: If you know someone who needs help signing up, point them to or 1-800-318-2596. If you’re feeling extra-amped and want to take your ACA-love to the streets, sign up to be a part of the Get America Covered street team, perform media outreach, or hold an enrollment event.
