Stand With Standing Rock: Send A Postcard. March On DC.
We've created postcards for you to download a print. #DailyRevolution.
This week the Standing Rock Sioux Nation and grassroots Indigenous leaders called for indigenous peoples groups and allies to descend on Washington for a four-day protest, which culminates today with a march on the White House.
After 45 approved the Dakota Access Pipeline in January, the last of the NODAPL water protectors were ordered to leave the anti-pipeline camp two weeks ago, with several arrested on their way out and the camp set aflame.
But indigenous rights and environmental activists aren’t giving up. Neither are we.
Since Tuesday, tribal members have set up teepees on the NW grounds of the Washington Monument across from the White House. Though overnight sleeping has not been allowed, there has been a daily schedule consisting of water blessings, a ceremonial fire, cultural workshops, and presentations by speakers.
Meanwhile, Native American Leaders are lobbying lawmakers in DC to respect and protect indigenous rights. As reported by PBS News Hour, Dallas Goldtooth, an organizer with the Indigenous Environmental Network, said: “This fight against the Dakota Access pipeline has been the tip of the spear of a powerful global movement calling for the United States government and Donald Trump to respect indigenous nations and people in our right to water, land, sovereignty, and culture.”
For those in DC, the organizers of the march are calling on all allies to join the march (see details below**).
For those who are unable to march, you can still show your support by sending a postcard to Scott Pruitt, the chief of the Environmental Protection Agency, telling him that you stand with Standing Rock and indigenous rights, and that you are against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
We’ve created a postcard that you can print out, as well as a suggested script, to help make it easy for you. Or if you’re a Twitter person, you can Tweet @AGScottPruitt demanding protection of indigenous peoples and emphasizing your opposition to DAPL. Use #NativeNationsRise.

Dear EPA Administrator Pruitt:
In solidarity with the indigenous Americans who came before us, we demand that you respect the rights and interests of these peoples to protect the environment, their homelands, and their future generations. I stand with Standing Rock because: _____________________________________
